Setting a New Standard for Efficiency in Road Surveys

At Spatial Awareness Mapping, we pride ourselves on delivering precise, efficient, and impactful solutions. A recent project highlighted our ability to revolutionize workflows for our clients, proving the value of cutting-edge technology and expert execution. A local surveying firm approached us with a critical project: a 2km long road survey requiring a detailed Digital Terrain Model (DTM) and the extraction of key features such as trees, poles and wires. Traditional fieldwork methods would have required a multi-person crew for several days on-site to measure over 500 trees along the corridor, stretching already tight resources and delaying the overall timeline. Spatial Awareness spent 4hrs on site, establishing control, flying the mission and processing the resulting point cloud in our mobile office. We then spent 1 day processing the DTM surface and cleaning, classifying and extracting the required features from the point cloud. The result: Our work saved our client an estimated 2 full days of fieldwork, kept a survey crew off a narrow country road, and saved additional time by capturing the site in its entirety and preventing additional visits to measure missed points. This project demonstrated the power of our advanced mapping techniques and our commitment to client success. By transforming how large surveys are conducted, we not only save time and resources but also set a new standard for efficiency in the industry.
