I'm a CASA-licensed remote pilot (RePL) with an aeronautical radio operator certificate and more than 15 years' experience across aviation maintenance, defence, rail and mining. My background in national reliability and asset management in the mining sector means I understand what engineers, maintenance planners, and site managers need from an inspection: clear evidence, a consistent method, and a report they can act on.
I follow a structured capture process on every job (subject to clients' needs): a nadir grid pass for mapping, oblique orbits for context, and close-up detail shots of defects. You receive an orthomosaic overview, annotated defect photos with severity ratings, and measurements taken from the model, ready for quoting, scoping or sign-off.
I can support your project at three stages: before quoting, so you can price without a site visit; during scoping, to define materials and access; and after completion, to verify the work was done to spec.
Factum Aerial operates under Factum Pty Ltd, my licensed investigations business, so my reports are factual, objective and keep evidence clearly separate from opinion. That matters when work may go to insurers or into disputes.
Factum Aerial is growing, and I'm reinvesting in capability as client demand builds. The next stage is moving post-processing from WebODM to DJI Terra for faster, survey-grade mapping and 3D models, and adding a DJI Matrice 400 enterprise platform. The Matrice 400 opens up interchangeable payloads, including thermal imaging for roof moisture and electrical inspections, high-resolution zoom for close inspection of assets without access equipment, and RTK positioning for higher-accuracy survey work. It also handles longer flight times and tougher site conditions. My goal is simple: a service that grows with your needs, from a quick roof check today to full asset and site surveys as your projects scale.
