Case Study: Showcasing Lifestyle & Location – Russell Island Development**
**Client Objective**
A property developer engaged my services as a licensed drone pilot to capture high-quality aerial photo and video content showcasing the lifestyle appeal of Russell Island. The goal was to promote an upcoming unit development located near the island’s main ferry terminal, targeting buyers seeking convenience, connectivity, and coastal living.
**Approach**
I planned and executed a series of drone flights designed to highlight both the development’s prime location and the broader appeal of the surrounding area. Filming was timed to take advantage of optimal lighting conditions, capturing the island during calm weather and golden hour for maximum visual impact.
Key shots included:
* Aerial footage of the **main ferry terminal**, emphasizing accessibility to and from the mainland
* Sweeping passes over the **proposed development site**, clearly showing proximity to transport links
* Cinematic flyovers of **surrounding islands**, reinforcing the scenic, coastal lifestyle
* Wide establishing shots of the island’s amenities, greenery, and waterfront environment
**Execution**
Using smooth, controlled flight paths, I captured a mix of high-resolution stills and cinematic video. The footage focused on creating a sense of place—showing not just where the development sits, but what it feels like to live there.
Care was taken to frame key infrastructure and natural features within the same shots, helping potential buyers immediately understand the convenience and lifestyle benefits.
**Outcome**
The final content delivered a compelling visual narrative that positioned the development as both accessible and desirable. By combining proximity to the ferry terminal with stunning coastal imagery, the marketing material successfully highlighted Russell Island as a relaxed yet connected place to live.
The client was able to use the footage across digital listings, social media campaigns, and promotional materials, enhancing buyer interest and engagement.

DJI T100 Clear for Takeoff
CASA has approved the T100 for operation in Australia under the Medium category, just like the T50 and other spray drones. The liquid tank holds up to 100 L and the spreader handles 100 kg. There are no built-in take-off limits or system restrictions in the drone or software. You’ll only see a brief notice on the remote screen if you exceed the MTOW, which disappears automatically. To stay within CASA’s operating guidelines, keep total load to 75 L or kg.
