VIC, Agriculture - Pinpoint plant stress for precision treatment
This study focuses on the detection of crop stressors in wheat, in particular disease and nitrogen stress. Aerial data will be collected at two critical stages for wheat stripe rust infection, the jointing and heading stages. Ground data will be collected as close as possible to flight time will be used to correlate the spectral measurement to biophysical parameters. Local meteorological data will be recorded for the duration of the crop season to aid in the development of a crop stressor probabilistic model. Ultimately, thematic maps of the most likely crop stressor will be produced to provide growers with the tools to improve crop yields and reduce input costs.
