Erosion assessment and silvopasture system design, central Victoria
VIC, Agriculture (e.g. Canola crop) - Other
A farming operation contacted Firetail Environments to work with them on a significant erosion problem and transitioning toward a more sustainable farming system that included combatting the erosion, creating more productive pastures and improving their livestock enterprise.
Orthomosaic mapping was utilised to detail the extent of the erosion, understand the surface hydrology of the property, and provide solutions to remediate the property and develop a silvopasture system that would provide benefits to the landscape and livestock operation.
The project utilised GIS applications to map the contours and surface water of the affected areas and provided detailed planting designs according to soil type across the property.
A detailed report was included with the mapping, including a schedule of works, improved farm management actions, volumetric assessments and a planting plan for the area to slow surface water, increase soil activity and provide opportunities for greater water retention capabilities on the farm.

DJI T100 Clear for Takeoff
CASA has approved the T100 for operation in Australia under the Medium category, just like the T50 and other spray drones. The liquid tank holds up to 100 L and the spreader handles 100 kg. There are no built-in take-off limits or system restrictions in the drone or software. You’ll only see a brief notice on the remote screen if you exceed the MTOW, which disappears automatically. To stay within CASA’s operating guidelines, keep total load to 75 L or kg.
