Capturing the thrill of 4WD in the Bush

*** Images and links to short movie to come *** I was tasked with filming a 4WD vehicle navigating through rugged bushland terrain. This job showcased my expertise as a drone operator, demanding a blend of advanced piloting skills, outdoor proficiency, and logistical acumen. The shoot spanned three days, requiring me to traverse remote and challenging landscapes in my own 4WD to reach the filming locations. My extensive experience with 4WD driving was crucial, ensuring safe and efficient access to each site. Once on location, the real challenge began. Filming a fast-moving 4WD vehicle through dense bushland required precise and agile drone piloting. Some shots needed me to navigate the drone under the tree canopy, maintaining a close and dynamic perspective of the vehicle as it sped along the tracks. Other shots took place in open air, where I could capture sweeping views of the landscape and the vehicle's journey through it. Throughout the shoot, I utilised my wireless duplex comms system to maintain real-time contact with the director and DOP. This allowed for immediate feedback and adjustments, ensuring we captured every necessary angle and movement. The director's input was vital, and my ability to adapt quickly to location changes and new shot requirements was a key factor in the shoot's success. Camping overnight in the bush was another aspect of the job, requiring self-sufficiency and preparedness. I was well-equipped for the task, with all necessary gear and provisions to remain comfortable and operational in the remote environment. The complexity of this shoot highlighted my skills in drone piloting and 4WD driving. My ability to work seamlessly in a challenging and dynamic environment ensured that we captured stunning footage, perfectly showcasing the adventure of the 4WD vehicle in the short movie.
