NSW, Environmental or large area (e.g. map a forest) - 2D map of a natural environment
The aerial work completed provides a scenic video overview of the foreshore. It showcases the individual elements of the project as well as side-by-side videos of construction activity at different time points. These show progress from the beginning of the project until completion.
Underpinning the video is the production of a high precision orthomosaic map of the project site. The map layout shown below is used to provide spatial context to the video and provides a detailed visual representation of the site. This allows viewers to gain better insights into the extent of the project's boundaries, location, built elements and environmental characteristics.
Spatial analysis techniques were used to convert the imagery collected by drones to quality tailored map products.
The Wagonga Inlet Living Shoreline project was completed by the Eurobodalla Shire Council in October 2024. It provides a restoration of the foreshore and adjacent estuary environments along the inlet shore in Narooma, situated on the south coast of NSW.
The project re-establishes ecosystems in the area, provides bank stabilisation, saltmarsh rehabilitation and oyster reef restoration. It also maintains the foreshore walkway, introduces a boardwalk and viewing platforms and new planting along the water's edge,
